Naufal is an Associate in the firm’s Energy, Shipping and Natural Resources Practice Group. He focuses his practice on general corporate and commercial, mergers and acquisitions, compliance advisory, corporate governance and licensing matters across mining, energy and natural resources sectors. He regularly advises various corporations with respect to their investments, compliance, regulatory affairs and day-to-day contractual matters in mining and sectors, including financial services, manufacturing and education industries.
Naufal had a stint at a domestic boutique corporate law firm where he was assigned to advise retainer clients on various day-to-day contractual, compliance and licensing matters for a foreign educational institution to operate as a business entity within a Special Economic Zone in Indonesia, and a China-based foreign investment company operating in the electricity sector in relation to its substation construction project in partnership with BYD, the world's largest EV manufacturer.
In addition to a variety of retainer clients that Naufal has advised on a wide range of general corporate matters, such as PT BNC Sekuritas Indonesia and Hi Foo Electronics Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based company engaged in the manufacture and sale of electronic components, Naufal's practice expands into employment and labor matters, ranging from executive compensation and benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and other corporate transactions, to employee benefits issues that arise in daily business operations, recruitment and termination of employment, redundancy procedures, outsourcing arrangements, as well as labor disputes.
He regularly assists the firm’s Partners in acting for the clients in various legal due diligence of private target companies, including in negotiation and drafting of core and ancillary transaction documentation in relation to the acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances in mining, manufacturing and natural resources sectors. Naufal also has frequently supported a diverse range of clients in connection with legal review and drafting of purchase, service procurement, employment contracts and cooperation agreements involving multiple stakeholders and foreign investors in highly regulated industries.
