Veby also had a stint at the Korea Desk of the Investment Promotion Department of Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry, contributing to her extensive understanding of business cultures, preference, diverse expectations and risk appetite of Korean businesses and investments.
Recently, she represented one of China's largest State-Owned Companies in the energy sector on a USD 28 million commercial dispute at the South Jakarta District Court against several foreign mining companies operating in Indonesia in relation to unlawful possession of two boiler units for a coal-fired power plant. Her broad experience and outstanding knowledge of investment landscape, local nuances, regulatory hurdles and bureaucratic complexities in Indonesia's mining and natural resources sector is frequently relied upon by her clients for matters related to M&A, joint ventures, project development, procurement of licenses, and disputes.
Veby has built-up a well-rounded and versatile practice with a unique fusion of investment, corporate, transactional, employment and intellectual property capabilities. She successfully assisted a US-based non-profit organization in appealing the rejection of its trademark application before the Indonesian IP Office where the decision went in favor of her client that the appeal was granted, and the trademark was registered. She was involved in the overall strategizing, drafting, and submission of the appeal. She also successfully assisted a France-based global construction and engineering firm (Egis) in obtaining a construction service business licensing in Indonesia where she was in charge of the preparation of mandatory documents, regulatory compliance review, and the overall license application submission process.
